Joint Assurance System
In many bolted joints, operating under extreme cyclic condition increases the risk of joints leaks. Obviously, leak causes a variety of serious environmental, health, safety and financial loss situations, and in an ever changing world these issues are becoming more and more critical.

The System
To achieve leak free bolted joint, a complex dynamic system must be implemented to manage all the key elements within the bolted system. This enables the design potential of the bolted joint to be accomplished and helps in achieving continued leak-free operations.

6 Key Steps toward Leak Free Joint
1. Flange Stress / Bolt Load Analysis
Step 1 Determine minimum requirement  to seal a flange
Step 2 Calculate the maximum flange stress
Step 3 Determine the optimum bolt load
2. HSE Risk Assessment
All applicable safety and HSE guidelines are to be followed
at all times.
All equipments are to be tested and calibrated. Physically
checked for its safe condition of use.
Perform job hazard analysis
3. Training & Competency Assessment
• All personnel involved will be trained and assessed before carrying out the job.
• Provide training program tailored to meet local requirement.
• The customise training will cover all aspects of joint assembly and break out process.
4. Joint Make-up Inspection
Gasket Selection & Installation
• Inspect gasket for correct type, size and rating 
• Inspect for the correct gasket installation.
Flange Surface Inspection
• Examine surfaces for damage such as scratches, nicks, gouges,
  corrosion and burrs.
• Check the flange faces for correct flatness
Flange Alignment
• Check that the flanges mating surfaces are parallel and aligned   properly.
Inspection on Stud bolts & Nuts
• Bolt and nut must be checked for correct application and free
  from damages.
• The contact surface between nut and flange must be clean
  and lubricated with approved lubricants.
5. Bolting Technologies
• Common bolting methods are heating, torquing, tensioning
  or any combination of the above.
• Bolting methods selection depends on bolt size, pressure rating,
  history and criticality of the joint.
Hydraulic Bolt Tensioning
• Directly stretching the bolt and inducing load without directly
  turning the nut.
Hydraulic Bolt Torquing
• Turning the nut on the bolt thread helix in order to stretch the bolt.
6. Ultrasonic Measurement & Data Logging
The final safeguard to ensure the joint integrity is to measure, adjust and assure that every bolt in the joint has the optimum tension
• We use ultrasonic measuring device G5 to accurately determine and record
   the boltload in all bolted joints.
—• The G5 also allows ease of data logging for electronic data management.
